Love This Season

This Season has been so fun!!! We had two wonderful weddings where we added two great brother-in-laws, one more official than the other one.

Congrats Whit and Kassieand Congrats Danny and Katie

We are so excited for you guys and had a great time at your weddings!!!

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving, celebrating with Allen's Family on Thursday and my family on Friday, two thanksgiving meals def didn't help on losing that baby weight!! Oh well, almost there.
After we had Colby's 8th Birthday and Baptism, I can't believe my baby is sooo big and this post is for him!!
Colby is 8
I can't believe my baby is Eight Years Old!! He is getting so big and we love everyday with him. (yes even the trying days).

It all started 8 years ago when I woke up and my water was leaking. I got ready for the day and told Allen to go to work, I would just go into the doctors and get checked out. Can anyone say DENIAL?? I wasn't having any contractions and I knew they told me that they wanted the baby to come within 24 hours after the water breaks, but I wasn't ready for him to come! With that being said it was actually good timing, further away from Christmas... I had already cleared off my desk... We had finished all our Christmas shopping the Saturday before.... We cleaned the house for my friends shower I was having at my house that night PLUS finished the babies rooms so I could show it off... Well after something like 20 plus hours of labor and the doctor threatening to C-Section me, Colby Trent Robins came into the world.
Eight Years Later and life has seemed to fly by. We are so grateful to have him in our family. I call him our protector because he is so concerned of others. He is doing Awesome at school and has such an amazing memory. He try's really hard to make the right choices even though his energetic self makes it hard sometimes:) My sister calls him a 40 year old in an 8 year old body, because of his personality. He never considered himself a kid and sometimes we do have to remind him of the fact!! He has inherited the art of negotiating and loves to prove people wrong. (and of course every 8 year old thinks he is right all the time, Oh Wait, I thought that was suppose to start at 14 LOL)

He is such a fun person, he loves to make sure we are safe and takes very good care of his brothers. Brody spends all day asking, "When does Colby get home from school?" and Porter gives him one of his biggest smiles and laughs whenever he comes into the room.

We have had a ton of fun adventures together and I have Loved seeing him grow and learn and be such an Awesome big brother. Note to Colby ----Some of the fun things you like to do at 8 are .... You are such an Awesome Basketball player and really enjoy that sport. You also love to play with your brothers and make them laugh. You are an excellant student and excel at Math, Science and Reading, you have one of those memories that people are jealous of!! You love playing with friends and sledding down our hill in the backyard, especially in the summer (yep my boys are expert sledders in the summer) You like to ride your bike and do all sorts of boy things. You are very good at art and we LOVE all the great notes you leave us around the house. We are so blessed to have you in our lifes and the great choices you make

Another great thing about 8 is that Colby was baptized!! He was so excited and I know he will continue to make great choices in his future. We had a wonderful day on his baptism and really appreciate the support Colby has of family and friends who came to celebrate with him. What a lucky boy he is and how lucky we are to have sooo many people Wanting to be involved in his life and ours.

First Day of 2nd Grade

The title first day of 2nd grade just makes me seem old!! We are so proud of all Colby has accomplished at school and how hard we works. I hope his teacher didn't think he was to much of a punk, I told him no on the 1st day of school, but let him go the seond day with with a mowhawk!! He has loved school and is reading at a very high level. He also is doing good with math, I can't believe he will be learning multiplication tables this year. 2nd grade and I already wont want to help him with the homework. I am excited about all the great friends he is making and how hard he works at making good choices. Such a cute kid!

Update- Wow he is Getting Old

I can't believe my son is 7, he is such a great kid! We did a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Party this year, Colby had one on a previous birthday and since we again were not getting snow on the ground (so no sledding party), he decided he wanted to do another one. Allen was the "master" and taught them some moves, then they opened presents, had pizza, green drink and cupcakes. Then watched a turtle movie downstairs. Great party they loved doing the moves etc.

Colby is loving school and learning so much everyday. He is a great friend and the Best Brother Brody could have.
He loves to read and is getting into chapter books and reads anything and everything around. He loves playing with friends and his brother. He loves movies and hanging out with family. He likes cars and will constantly point out similar cars to those we or family members drive out on the roads. We are so lucky to have him in our family and to have him be such a good big brother. We are excited to seeing what being 7 brings!
The first thing 7 brought was the losing of his two front teeth, we had fun all Christmas signing, "All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth" He lost his first one on the Buzz lightyear ride (yes on it) and the next one quickly after he turned 7!

School is Starting for Colby

I can't believe how big my Colby is. He is so excited to be going to first grade. First I must tell you how I AGAIN put my foot in my mouth. I am the biggest dork sometimes. So I have been upset with Colby's school, we did our track requests, which I of course requested A Track, then D Track. Thinking either would be good, but A Track would mean he didn't have to miss school during our vacation and he would be home when the baby came. D Track was an option that would work. So what track do we get.... B, what the heck? Not even my first two and I have two neighbors that got A track and didn't even submit a choice. Well to change a track you had to go to the school by 8 in the morning, first come, first right to change. Well I sent Allen there 30 minutes prior to 8 and he ended up being number 9 in line. So I figured no problem we def. will get our change request. Well time comes and goes and I hear nothing, so I call, they say they will call me back and so I wait. Again no call, then I go in and leave a note, she said she would check into it, no call. Finally I go back in talk to the person I need to, she agains says she will look into it, gives me a call an hour later and says, "Sorry, there is no room in A track" I was furious, knowing they had to of messed up with the paperwork, being number 9 in line and knowing at least 5 of the people in front were working on getting other tracks. Same time I get a notice that Colby's teacher is a male. Well I'm not sure why that worried me, my favorite elementary teacher was a male first grade teacher. I just didn't think Colby would respond well to a Male teacher and I worried how hard he would be on the kids etc...
So I am hanging out at the school for a PTA mtg (yes I got suckered to participate in that) I was talking to the front person in the office who I knew and decided to ask her about this teacher, get an idea of what to expect. Well as I was asking her, this guy walks into the office and stands about 10 feet away, he had longer hair and in "work" style clothes, I saw him, but didnt' think for a minute he was a teacher, oh how wrong I was!!! After asking the front person if she had any information on him, she said he was new this year. Then as I asked her if he was a "manly man" and what type of teacher he was, she kinda pointed her head back. I thought that the guy in the principals office must of been the teacher (again not thinking it was the man 10 feet away) I was whispering, but not quite enough I am sure. The next day when it was time to meet Colby's new teacher, who would it be, but the man that was standing 10 feet away. I was sooooo embarrassed, I can't believe what a dork I am. Well all my worry ment nothing. Colby LOVES his new teacher, he is sooo excited to have a guy teacher and soooo excited to start school. I am going to miss my little man so much, a whole day of school he will be gone......

Brody MISSED HIM sooooo much, every hour he asked, "When is Colby coming home?" He was not happy to see him leave after having a summer of fun with him!!
Colby came home and said, "That was the BEST FIRST DAY of FIRST GRADE EVER" it can't get any better than that!

Like a Fish

AMAZING, what a set of swimming lessons, a GOOD swim teacher who takes the time to be strict but gentle with your boy and all of a sudden I have a FISH for a son. Those who know Colby, he HATES water or should I say he HATED water. As a baby due to the eczema and how bad it irritates his skin he has not liked being near water. I finally decided he needed to learn how to swim. Signed him up for some last minute swimming lessons, and how lucky we got a good swim teacher. After the first day she mouthed to me after if he was afraid of the water, I confirmed he was and she said that she would work on that. She was AMAZING, one set of swim lessons and Colby LOVES to swim, he is getting so good and confident in the water. THANK YOU, THANK YOU Colby's swim teacher that took the time to help him. It might of only been 3 weeks of lessons, but she was amazing and did wonders with our son.
He became quite the swimmer. We got in a lot of swimming during the summer so Colby could practice his new found skills!!!
\
Brody just loved the water, we plan on adding him in the lessons in the fall.

Happy 6th Birthday Colby!!!

WOW where has my baby gone? Colby really wanted a suit like his daddy for his birthday, so here is our handsome boy all dressed up.

He wanted a sledding party which every past year would of worked great, except this year. So last minute we did a Pirate party.

The boys started out walking the plan blindfolded, then they were divided into teams and had treasure hunt where they found their pirate stuff.

Most of the pictures were on Allen's camera, but the boys found their bandana's, swords, eyepatches, and other pirate stuff. Colby had a lot of fun with his friends and was very thankful for all the great stuff he got!

Family Parties were great also, and Colby is very lucky for all the support he gets.

First Day of School

Colby had a Blast! Mommy and Brody missed him, Brody asked every 10 minutes, "where's Colby?". Colby gave hugs and followed the other kids examples. He LOVES Kindergarten. Note I let Colby pick any shirt he wanted for the first day so of course it has a character on it:) Oh well I'll post a picture of the outfit I would of chosen! He looks handsome either way

No Look back.....

Snow Day

It Snowed Today, I promised the boys we could go sledding (we have a great little hill in our backyard) but when we looked for the sled I couldn't find it! (Later found out that Daddy packed it) We decided instead to build a snowman! So we went out front and because mommy didn't have snow shoes on we started building it off the side of the sidewalk. Well that is really hard to do actual rolls of big balls when your limited on where you can walk. So I thought, "who needs balls for a snowman lets just pile the snow in one big hill and sculpt it" (ha ha is right) While we were doing that, our neighbor came outside with her kids and started making a real snowman the right way. It only took them 10 minutes and as Colby noticed, was MUCH bigger than ours. What to do, what to do, I knew I had to come up with an idea quick because Colby was not going to let me leave our snowman the way it was.

This is what we came up with

A Snow Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle!!!
Colby thought it was SO COOL! The bandana is orange so I believe Colby told me his name was Michelangelo. He loved it and was so worried the first night that we left it outside, until I convinced him that it was better for him.

Homework

Colby had a homework assignment from school where he needed to bring a worm to school (any kind) We'll the night before he didn't find one, so this is how our morning went.

Yes that is Allen digging in our yard trying to find a worm, so where is Colby??

Yes that is Colby still eating his breakfast

Allen still is digging.... So finally when it was time to go Allen came in with no worm. Thank goodness mom had a backup plan and bought gummy worms just in case. Initially the whole problem with this scenario is we are already doing our kids homework and he's barely 4. But after Allen came back in it dawned on me that, "could he really see a worm in the dirt with his color blindness?" When I asked him he said he was looking for movement. Ha, I laughed at him and said it probably wasn't the brightess idea of mine to send my color blind husband to find a worm!
